Tzevi Sherman is a guitarist based in Toronto. He is an active member of the local music scene performing in Toronto, the GTA and across Canada in many groups as a freelance musician and bandleader.
You are likely to see Tzevi performing as a sideman playing top 40 songs one night, leading his original instrumental band Astrosurf the next, accompanying a singer-songwriter at a recording session the next afternoon or even playing banjo in a traditional jazz band after that.
Tzevi’s eclectic style and versatility through many popular genres are what set him apart as a musician.
As a graduate of York University’s Bachelor in Fine Arts in Music as well as the University of Toronto’s Master’s in Jazz performance, Tzevi has not only worked extensively as a performer, composer and arranger but as an educator as well. He has worked as a private guitar instructor at various music schools across the GTA, lead student Jazz ensembles at the University of Toronto during his Master’s degree and conducted workshops on jazz education for the Toronto District School Board. Tzevi is a passionate educator with a focus on teaching the fundamentals so that students have the ability to express themselves through music.
